FanDuel MLB: Wednesday's Picks

FanDuel MLB: Wednesday's Picks

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Wednesday's main slate brings us a healthy seven games with another six games happening earlier in the day. It doesn't look like the weather will play a factor for this main slate but as always, keep checking throughout the day.

Pitching

James Kaprielian, OAK at TEX (9,000): This is a tricky slate because the upper-tier pitchers are facing tough matchups. The Padres don't strike out much against right-handed pitchers (second-lowest in baseball) and Trevor Rogers is facing a tough Blue Jays line that hits lefties well without striking out a lot. Kaprielian has been a nice surprise for Oakland, averaging 33.7 fantasy points per game. He has at least 35 fantasy in five of his seven starts and the Rangers strike out the eighth-most against right-handed pitching (25.5 percent).

Joe Musgrove, SD vs. LAD ($7,900):  Granted, Musgrove has a tough home matchup with the Dodgers but takes a significantly small salary cap hit than Bauer or Rogers. Musgrove's numbers have been excellent season as his 0.85 WHIP supports the 2.28 ERA. Also, he boasts 11.16 K/9 rate, one of the best in baseball. He's a solid GPP option (and not a bad cash game option) with most likely taking either Bauer, Rogers or Kaprielian.

Top Targets

Michael Brantley, HOU at BAL ($3,500): Brantley seems to be overlooked in this lineup given the stars around him. However, it's Brantley who has the highest wOBA against right-handed pitching with a .448 mark. Houston has the highest implied run total of the slate and Tom Eshelman had a 6.41 ERA at Triple-A before he was recalled.

Matt Olson, OAK at TEX ($4,100): Olson has been on fire as of late sporting a 1.265 OPS over the last 21 days fueled by seven home runs, five doubles and six walks. He's homered once in four plate appearances against Mike Foltynewicz who has allowed a .451 wOBA (11 home runs in 30 innings) to left-handed pitchers. Olson should have a good game and he has the upside to have the most fantasy points of any hitter tonight.

Value Bats

Ryan O'Hearn, KC at NYY ($2,200): Using O'Hearn gives you an inexpensive lefty your lineup that will get to hit in Yankee Stadium. O'Hearn homered in his first game back from the IL and should be hitting in the cleanup spot once again. Michael King won't pitch far into this game meaning O'Hearn should get his crack at some second-tier pitching.

Wander Franco, TB. vs. BOS ($2,500): This will probably be the last time you see Franco at this salary and he will probably be one of the most popular players used in cash games. Garrett Richards is a good matchup who has allowed a .340 wOBA to opposing right-handed hitters while Franco had a .998 OPS against right-handed pitching as a left-handed batter at Triple-A this season. Franco doubled, homered and walked last night so he's hit the ground running for the Rays.

Stacks To Consider

A's at Mike Foltynewicz: Olson, Mark Canha ($3,300), Matt Chapman ($3,100), Ramon Laureano ($3,600)

It feels lazy to pick Astros tonight given their high run total and it likely a stack from another team wins the big GPPs. Oakland scored 13 runs last night in Arlington with the four of these players combined for 110.1 fantasy points. That result obviously doesn't guarantee similar numbers tonight but does show the upside they have.

Tampa Bay vs. Garrett Richards: Franco, Randy Arozarena ($3,800), Joey Wendle ($3,000), Brandon Lowe ($3,100)

None of these players have faced Richards before but that will obviously change tonight. I like Wendle and Lowe's dual eligibility and you can fill the middle infield using the two. Looking at his box scores Arozarena tends to be a streaky player and recorded three hits last night.
