Rest-of-Season Projections
Will be used as full-time starter
White Sox general manager Chris Getz said Tuesday that the club plans to use Flexen as a full-time starting pitcher in 2024, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Flexen -- who inked a one-year, $1.75 million contract last month -- has split his time between starting and relieving over the last two seasons, but the White Sox plan to give him a full starter's workload in 2024. The right-hander posted a rough 6.86 ERA and 74:38 K:BB through 102.1 innings in 2023 between the Mariners and Rockies, including a 7.18 ERA in 16 starts. However, Flexen generated a 3.66 ERA from 2021-22 with Seattle while being used mostly as a starter, and the White Sox will be hoping he returns to that form.

The weak AL Central is full of spots still up for grabs as camp begins, though the most interesting contest is probably the battle for the Twins' fifth starter job.
Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could soon join big club
According to Thomas Harding of MLB.com, Flexen could join the Rockies' starting rotation after starting Sunday for Triple-A Albuquerque.
ANALYSIS
The right-hander joined Colorado on a minor-league deal July 13 and allowed one run across 4.1 frames in his first start with the Isotopes. Even if Kyle Freeland returns from his dislocated shoulder this week, there should still be a spot in the rotation for Flexen since Connor Seabold was recently relegated to the bullpen.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2023
2022
2021
Flexen was a fun story in 2021 returning from pitching in the KBO and becoming a tremendous fantasy value for those who threw a late dart on him with 14 wins and solid ratios. The expected stats let us know that Flexen would have a very tough time repeating his success in 2022, and they were right. His ERA did not balloon much, but he did lose his spot in the rotation as he struggled with walks and allowed too many baserunners. He did have nine quality starts and allowed multiple homers in 4 of his outings, but he was out of the rotation by early August while ending the season on a rather solid run in relief. He has the repertoire of a swing man whose changeup and slider work best when he gets ahead in the count as his fastball was too hittable last season. He should resume a spot in the back end of the rotation for Seattle while once again serving as a streaming fantasy option depending on the matchup as he is far from a set-it-and-forget-it fantasy pitcher.
