Morant Comes Up Huge To Lead Grizzlies To First Win
The Memphis Grizzlies defeated the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers, 132-121, at FedEx Forum on Wednesday evening.

The contest got out to a high-scoring start as both teams poured in 32 points in the first quarter. The Grizzlies picked up the pace in the second, where they scored 41 points, while holding the Cavs to 29 points, to take a 12-point lead at the half. The Cavs fought their way back through the third quarter, outscoring the hosts by eight and cutting it to a four-point game heading into the final frame. The Grizzlies responded with a 10-0 run early in the fourth to reclaim a double digit lead. The Cavs would not fold and rallied back to make it a one-point game with 2:33 left. However, Ja Morant came up clutch down the stretch, with nine of the Grizzlies' final 15 points to ensure they closed out their home-opener the right way.

Morant finished with a game-high 37 points on 17-of-29 shooting, six rebounds, six assists and two blocks, in 34 minutes. Desmond Bane followed up with 22 points, three assists, three rebounds and two steals, while De'Anthony Melton added 20 points, four rebounds and three assists. The Grizzlies shot 53 percent from the field, including 14-of-33 from deep.

Meanwhile, Jarrett Allen led the way for the Cavs with 25 points on 11-of-11 shooting, in 29 minutes. Collin Sexton and Evan Mobley followed up with 17 points each, while Cedi Osman chipped in 15 points off the bench. The Cavs shot 50.5 percent from the field, including 14-of-38 from deep.

The Cavs (0-1) will look to bounce back as they play host to the Hornets on Friday. The Grizzlies (1-0) take on the Clippers in L.A. on Saturday.
