Orioles Observations

I hope Matt Wieters is discounted for a passable but unspectacular 2009. I'll be happy to be the "sucker" who falls for the hype this year.

Garrett Atkins is really the team's first baseman? I guess he's worth $10 or so in an AL league. But the Orioles have a lot of other options - Ty Wigginton, Brandon Snyder, Luke Scott among others. I like Koji Uehara and Kameron Mickolio as AL-only relievers, the former due to his command and the latter due to his strikeout ability.

I probably won't end up with Brian Matusz or Chris Tillman - tough division, not a ton of run support, etc. Jeremy Guthrie and Bradley Bergesen are guys I could wind up with for $1 each. Guthrie as a bounce back candidate (the WBC might have derailed him last year) and Bergesen is a ground baller who doesn't walk people. David Hernandez is interesting as an AL-only reserve. He was terrible last year for the O's, but dominated the high minors before that.

I don't see any value in the Orioles young outfield - all three (Reimold, Jones and Markakis) are likely to have their champions, and I expect them to go at full price.
