It's worth noting that the absences of Emeka Egbuka (undisclosed) and Julian Fleming (undisclosed) likely played a role in Ballard's increased reps with the first-string offense, but it's at least a sign that he's likely in the mix for some reps this fall. Ballard finished 2022 with just eight catches for 155 yards and a touchdown on nine targets and may have to wait at least another season before he could be a featured member of the receiving corps, but that could be expedited if injuries hit the position this fall.
