Take decision in UFC 298 opener
FlyweightUFC
February 17, 2024
Maverick defeated Andrea Lee via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) at UFC 298 on Saturday in Anaheim.
ANALYSIS
It was a fight Maverick had to have against a 35-year-old opponent who entered with three straight defeats on her resume, and she got it. Outside of a Lee triangle choke in the dying seconds, Miranda was in control the entire way. She turned three successful takedowns into 3:05 worth of control time and got the better of the striking exchanges with Lee, a known stand-up specialist. Maverick, still just 26 years of age, has won four of five dating back to March 2022, but all four wins have come against lower-end competition. Her previous fights against better opposition have not gone well.

Maverick will fight Andrea Lee at UFC 298 on Feb. 17, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.

Easily wins UFC 291 opener
FlyweightUFC
July 29, 2023
Maverick defeated Priscila Cachoeira via submission (armbar) at 2:11 of Round 3 at UFC 291 on Saturday in Salt Lake City.
ANALYSIS
Maverick accepted this fight in mid-July following the withdrawal of Joanne Wood. She said it appeared to be a great stylistic matchup for her, and that turned out to be exactly the case. Miranda fired off nine takedowns, landing three -- one in each round. That led to 8:54 worth of control time in a bout that lasted a shade over 12 minutes. The quality of Maverick's grappling game has never been in doubt. It's how she performs when her takedowns aren't landing that has been the issue. The Elevation Fight Team product is 3-1 in her last four fights, although all three victories have come against lesser competition (Cachoeira, Shanna Young, Sabina Mazo).
Steps in for Wood
FlyweightUFC
July 13, 2023
Maverick will replace Joanne Wood and take on Priscila Cachoeira in a flyweight bout at UFC 291 on July 29, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Maverick will step in on short notice and replace Wood, who was removed from the UFC 291 card. She'll have a little over two weeks to prepare for Cachoeira, who is 4-4 in the UFC but hasn't fought since August of 2022, defeating Ariane Lipski with punches in the first round.
Latest big favorite to fall
FlyweightUFC
June 10, 2023
Maverick lost to Jasmine Jasudavicius via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC 289 on Saturday in Vancouver.
ANALYSIS
Maverick finds herself the latest big money favorite (-250) to come up short in Vancouver. All three judges gave Miranda Round 1, which was probably the correct call, but still generous. She did nothing for the entire frame other than threaten an armbar from the bottom. The final ten minutes were an unmitigated disaster. Maverick displayed awful fight IQ, going for ill-timed takedowns and often finding herself being dominated on the mat as a result. It was no better on the feet. Miranda has been built up as a potential future threat at 125 pounds, but her 4-3 mark in seven UFC bouts suggests otherwise. Maverick will be 26 years of age on July 1.
Facing Jasudavicius in June
FlyweightUFC
March 14, 2023
Maverick agreed to fight Jasmine Jasudavicius in a flyweight bout at UFC 289 on June 10, Mike Heck MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Maverick dominated Shanna Young as a -850 favorite in November for her second straight victory, and she seems likely to be favored again at UFC 289. Jasudavicius is 2-1 in her first three UFC bouts and is coming off a victory over Gabriella Fernandes in February during which she won a clear unanimous decision as an underdog.
