No longer with UFC
Light HeavyweightOther
August 31, 2022
Hunsucker has been removed from the UFC roster, Damon Martin of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
No surprises here, as Hunsucker has been on the wrong side of three consecutive first-round losses in the heavyweight division. Even in a weight class in which the company needs depth, the UFC will elect to fill the talent from other sources. Hunsucker, meanwhile, finds himself at a career crossroads at the age of 33.

Quickly finished by Tyson Pedro
Light HeavyweightOther
August 20, 2022
Hunsucker lost to Tyson Pedro via TKO (punches) at 1:05 of Round 1 at UFC 278 on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Hunsucker could have very well needed this victory to save his roster spot after back-to-back first-round knockouts to start his UFC run, and it couldn't have gone much worse. He only landed two significant strikes before getting stunned by a jab, and a well-placed body kick by Pedro sent him to the mat. Hunsucker covered up and Pedro only needed a few follow-up shots to close the show. Hunsucker started his career at heavyweight, but the move down to 205 pounds didn't appear to do him much good. At 33 years old, time isn't on his side to start a new winning streak and get back on track.
Fighting at UFC 278
Light HeavyweightOther
June 14, 2022
Hunsucker is set to fight Tyson Pedro at UFC 278 on Aug. 20, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hunsucker currently holds a record of 7-4-0 in the Heavyweight division of the UFC, and he last defeated Justin Tafa at UFC Vegas 45. "The Hurricane" will look to build up his winning streak as he takes on Pedro at UFC 278.
Handed medical suspension
Light HeavyweightOther
December 21, 2021
Hunsucker was handed a six-month medical suspension Tuesday due to a knee injury, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hunsucker failed to last two minutes against Justin Tafa before getting knocked out. He may have also suffered a serious injury in the process. If an MRI on his left knee is positive, he'll be unable to fight until June 17 unless cleared by a doctor.
Obliterated by Justin Tafa
Light HeavyweightOther
December 18, 2021
Hunsucker lost to Justin Tafa via TKO (head kick) at 1:53 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It was another disastrous effort from Hunsucker. The 32-year-old Kentucky native has now made two appearances with the UFC, in addition to a bout on Dana White's Contender Series. Hunsucker has suffered first-round knockout defeats in each of the fights and the odds are strongly against him getting a third official opportunity with the company. On a more positive note, he did pick up a percentage of Tafa's purse after the latter missed weight by a pound on Friday morning. Small victories.
Still fighting Saturday
Light HeavyweightOther
December 17, 2021
Hunsucker will still fight Justin Tafa at UFC Vegas 45 on Saturday, Aaron Bronsteter of TSN.ca reports.
ANALYSIS
Hunsucker will receive a portion of Tafa's purse after the latter weighed in one point above the heavyweight limit Friday. Hunsucker enters Saturday's matchup as an underdog in spite of Tafa's missed weight.
