Edgerrin Cooper

22-Year-Old LinebackerLB
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Looking to bolster the middle linebacker position amid a move to a 4-3 defense, the Packers scooped up Cooper in the second round of this year's draft. Cooper brings little size (6-foot-2, 230 pounds) but plenty of speed (4.51 40) to the table, and he was in the backfield frequently in his final year of college. Green Bay's top two tacklers from last season return, and Cooper is projected to slot into the starting spot between the two of them. Read Past Outlooks

Going up north to Green Bay
LBGreen Bay Packers
April 26, 2024
The Packers selected Cooper in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 45th overall.
ANALYSIS
It's a light class at inside linebacker, but with De'Vondre Campbell's departure this offseason, it was a need for Green Bay. Cooper is arguably the top-rated player from this linebacker group. The linebacker position is getting smaller and faster league-wide, and Cooper fits that mold at 6-foot-2 and just 230 pounds while compensating for his frame with 4.51 speed. He led the SEC in tackles for loss in 2023 (17.0) and showed some pass-rush chops with 8.0 sacks at Texas A&M. He will need to get by on his athleticism and likely add some bulk in order to reliably hold up against the run at the next level, but there are traits here that can make him a fixture in the Green Bay linebacking corps.

Packers see similarities to Walker
LBGreen Bay Packers
May 5, 2024
Green Bay views Cooper as a similar player to linebacker Quay Walker, per Packers Assistant Director of College Scouting Pat Moore, Paul Bretl of USA Today Packers Wire reports. "Edgerrin's probably not as thick right now as Quay was coming out but same type of speed and intensity," Moore said. "Obviously, you're seeing them play the same type guys, same competition. Little bit different game but same type of physical traits and aggression, play style."
ANALYSIS
Cooper was selected in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft and has a chance to start alongside Walker as a rookie. Walker has posted 239 tackles over his first two NFL seasons, and the Packers are optimistic Cooper can give them similar production out of the gate.
