England vs. Pakistan: Fourth ODI Preview

England and Pakistan will lock horns in the fourth One-Day International (ODI) of the five-match series in Nottingham on Friday. The home side are clearly proven to be the better side as they've a 2-0 lead with just two more matches to play after comprehensive 12-run and six-wicket wins in the second and third ODI after the series opener was washed out. Trent Bridge in Nottingham will be used as the venue for the contest, which will be hosting its 45th ODI. Highest team score of 481-5 at the venue in a 50-over contest was registered by the home side in the match against Australia in 2018, whereas lowest team score of 83 was registered by South Africa in 2008. Highest individual score of 171 at the venue was registered by England's Alex Hales, whereas best bowling figures of 6-25 was registered by India's Kuldeep Yadav. At the same venue back in 2016, England scored 444 while batting first and subsequently thrashed Pakistan by 169 runs.

England suffered a major blow for the match on Friday as captain Eoin Morgan will miss the clash after being penalised with a one-match suspension following slow over-rate in Bristol. In his absence, the team will be heavily relying on in-form opener Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, veteran right-hander Joe Root and wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler to score bulk of the runs, whereas on the bowling front, the onus will be once again on pacers to do bulk of the damage. There are more than few changes expected in the team where Buttler, leg-spinner Adil Rashid, pacers Jofra Archer and Chris Wood can all come in for Morgan, Joe Denly, Liam Plunkett and David Willey.

On the other hand, the visitors will be going in the match low on confidence after suffering back-to-back defeats. There will be at least one change expected in the playing eleven where veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik is set to return at the expense of left-hander Haris Sohail. In the batting department, the Men in Green will be relying on the likes of in-form opener Imam Ul-Haq, Fakhar Zaman, right-hander Babar Azam and Asif Ali to score bulk of the runs, whereas on the bowling front, the onus will be on the pace attack to finally show their true colours.
